For this assignment my class was supposed to retouch an original picture of a car and take out the bright spots, the background, etc. Here is the original photo: And here is the edited photo: Here's another example: What I learned from this assignment was mostly how to use the clone tool, and how to edit out bright spots. I also got much better at using the selection tool. I learned that when selecting the subject, you should make sure you aren't cutting off any edges.

This week, I chose to take still life shots. I needed to take pictures of things in their natural essence, and I came up with these. Shutter Speed - 1/80 Aperture - 7.1 ISO - 3200 I was inspired to take these pictures when I saw my mom doing sudoku, and I suddenly thought, "hey, I could work with that..." The pictures are a little too blurry, I probably could've lowered the ISO a lot, but I do think that these pictures turned out really well.
For my second assignment, I am focusing on STILL LIFE. I have a few ideas already, and I can think of multiple things that would make great still life photos. This time, I am focusing on the brightness of the pictures because last week they were a little too light. Here are some pictures I took inspiration from: I think these are great examples of still life, because the pictures are simple and focus in on one subject. Also, they look very real, not like they are processed or fake.
For this assignment, we were tasked to take a picture of us and use Adobe Photoshop to make Pop Art. If you don't know what it is, Pop Art is usually demonstrated as a picture copied for times on the canvas in bright colors. For example, here is my original picture: And here is the Pop Art version: And here's another example: What I learned from this assignment was how to better use photoshop, of course, but also how to control the color and quality of pictures, as well as learning how to put multiple pictures into one canvas.
For this assignment, I chose to take pictures of events, or people at events. What I need to do was show people in action at events such as a game, party, or dance. Shutter Speed - 1/500 Aperture - 13.0 ISO - 1250 I decided to take pictures at my little brother's football game, and I thought it went really well. I was able to get a lot of action shots, as well as pictures on the sideline and during halftime. I did realize after I got home that the pictures were a little bright, and I probably could've increased the shutter speed to get better focus. But other than that, I though it was a great environment to take photos.
For my first assignment, I am focusing on EVENTS. I have lots of things going on this weekend, and I am hoping that I can capture people in moment. I am also hoping to improve my composition so I can get the perfect shot. Here are some pictures I took inspiration from: I think these are very good examples of events, because you can see that very important things are taking place, and the people in the pictures are just living on the moment. I want to try and take pictures of the marching band or homecoming.
Fast Shutter Speeds (ex: 1/1000) capture the subject in motion and freeze it, and cause the pictures to be darker. Slow Shutter Speeds (ex: 1/8) make the subject unfocused and blurry, and cause the picture to be brighter. A Large Aperture (ex: 3.4) creates a small depth of field, making only the subject focused. It also make the picture brighter. A Small Aperture (ex: 8.0) creates a large depth of field, making the subject and the background clear and distinct. It also makes the picture darker. Picture 1 - 1/8 Picture 2 - 1/30 Picture 3 - 1/80 Picture 4 - 1/160 With these four pictures, I was trying to show how the flow of water went from unfocused and blurred to crisp and distinct. It is a little bit hard to differ these shots, but you can see that the apex of the stream gets a little clearer for every faster shutter speed. Picture 1 - 3.4 Picture 2 - 5.0 Picture 3 - 6.4 Picture 4 - 8.0 With these pictures, I was trying to demonstrate aperture by shooting a keyboard, using a smaller aperture every shot. The camera doesn't show it very well, but I wanted the viewer to see the letters farther away on the keyboard and the computers in the background come more into focus with every smaller aperture. I would suggest looking at where the H and M keys are, and when the aperture used for the pictures gets smaller, they come more into focus. This assignment was to capture different elements of composition; Lines, Patterns, Colors, etc. I learned a lot about composition in photos with this assignment. I discovered that having these elements in a piece can make it cleaner and more interesting to look at.
I also learned how to sort all of my pictures in Adobe Bridge to make them more accessible easier to find. Overall, I really enjoyed this project. At first, I was having a bit of trouble finding elements in a single hallway, but eventually I made my way outside and was able to take much better photos. I think nature is always a great thing to take a picture of, because none of it will ever look exactly the same. Additionally, I loved designing this blog and making it look good I'm Amelia Jobe, and welcome to my photography blog. In my free time I play the trumpet in the marching band, and I take piano lessons as well. I also like draw, act, spend time with my friends, and play Nintendo games, mostly Mario Kart.
I decided to take this class for a few reasons: 1) My dad was a photographer in High School, and I wanted to learn to take picture like him 2) I wasn't part of multi-media in 7th/8th grade, but I was always interested in the class 3) I wanted to be able to capture the beauty in things that other people may not be able to. I'm really looking forward to taking pictures in this class. (: |
